Yesterday, the 44th President of the United States was sworn in. I have to admit, in my 33 years on this earth...I've never watched an Inauguration, ever. Matt said he watched one in High School. (I'm sure I was supposed to, but I probably ditched that day.) And best of all, I watched it with my favorite homeschool dudes. Surprisingly, they sat very eager to see it all.
Their interest was more with the President's daughters. Where will they go to school? Do they have their own room? Is there a Chef that cooks for them every night? How old will they be in four years? I finally said, "Guys, I know there are two of them and there are two of you...but I think they are little young for you." ~wink, wink :o) The "girl talk" always seems to get the boys back on track....(although, they are two of the cutest girls!)
We (yes, I said "we") learned that President Obama is the 5th youngest President. The third President from Illinois. He used the same Bible that President Lincoln used to be sworn in. And what I thought was the coolest, he and the First Lady (or Mom-in-Chief) walked out and said good-bye to former President Bush and his wife, former First Lady, Laura Bush. As they boarded the helicopter, former President Bush shook Michelle's hand and I could read his lips when he said, "This will be the time of your life, I promise." What respect and class they have...both couples.
So now that all the fuss is over, back to grading Cameron's math test while giving Caleb his spelling test. Just a side note: Two of Caleb's spelling words...bombardier and boatswain. Now, I'm not sure he'll ever use these words...but he knows them and now so do I! :o)
Still learning...
No recipe today. Dealing with church stuff...it's keeping me busy!

Actually...Malia just turned 10 and Sasha is 8. They may be a tad young for Caleb (although 2 years isn't completely terrible), but they're not too young for Cameron :-P
