Yesterday, I had a day with Cameron. It was just us. Being a homeschool mom, that rarely happens. But it's always welcome! Caleb had decided to join his dad and a few others for golf, so I knew we were going to have the entire day together.
I asked him if he wanted to go to one of his favorite stores... Book & Music Exchange. He's my quirky one that likes to shop for things that were made before he was even born. His products of choice - old video games. So we headed to BME.
But I enjoy looking at cookbooks. If I'm at Barnes and Noble, you find me with the cookbooks...then at Starbucks...or maybe the other way around. Half Price Books...same thing (except no coffee). So when I walked into BME yesterday, I went to my normal spot.
I found several cookbooks put together by various schools, churches, and other groups. I just love them. They are compiled by the members of all the different organizations. I have found the yummiest recipes this way...
So as I was looking through my new found treasures last night, I decided to challenge myself. I've chosen a different recipe for each night from the cookbooks that I purchased yesterday... I'm pretty excited about it. Like most families, we probably make the same 10 things over and over.
Some of the recipes I've chosen are things that I've made before, but maybe in a different way or with different ingredients. Like tonight, I've chosen Chicken Pot Pie... But I've never made my own rolled out crust... Pillsbury has always graciously taken care of that for me. But the lady in the cookbook says it's easy, so I'll give it try!
So here's to my favorite form of therapy... Cooking. Check back to see how my week went!
