But I woke up with a horrible migraine and was just physically and mentally tired. I woke up early, before the sun came up and began to pray... I knew I couldn't miss church. And I really didn't want to, after all... It was Father's Day! But I needed something that my earthy father, nor the father of my boys could give me. I needed healing and strength.
Sometimes I feel guilty praying for myself. When I think about people throughout this world and what others are going through... A headache seems like a picnic.
But when you are a child of God, whatever is important to you is even more important to Him!!
Put yourself in God's shoes for a moment...does He even wear shoes? I'm a mom. I have children. I never want to see them hurt. I never want to see them struggle. And when they come to me for help, whatever they are going through is my priority!
Caleb's needs are different than Cameron's. Caleb may think that his problems are more important that Cameron's... And someone looking in from the outside, might think that both of their problems are trivial. But I'm their mom. When they hurt, I hurt. And if they NEVER came to me with anything, I may start to think that I'm not needed...
I asked God to heal my migraine. I asked Him to give me strength. And then, I fell back to sleep...only to be awaken by the alarm about an hour later. I honestly felt like I had been asleep for 8 glorious, uninterrupted hours!! (Ha! And when was the last time that's ever happened?) As soon as my eyes were opened, I knew my prayer had been answered. I praised God for that! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Just talk to God. Maybe your prayer won't be answered in an hour. A lot of my prayers aren't either... But I know He's here and I know He's listening...
"For this reason, I bow my knees and pray to the Father. It is from Him that every family in heaven and on earth has its name. I pray that because of the riches of His shining-greatness, He will make you strong with power in your hearts through the Holy Spirit.
I pray that Christ may live in your hearts by faith. I pray that you will be filled with love. I pray that you will be able to understand how wide and how long and how high and how deep His love is. I pray that you will know the love of Christ. His love goes beyond anything we can understand. I pray that you will be filled with God Himself.
God is able to do much more than we ask or think through His power working in us. May we see His shining-greatness in the church.
May all people in all time honor Christ Jesus."
