What a Way to Go Out...

Last night, as I was sitting with my teens, I realized that my days of being a youth pastor are almost over. For the last 10 years, my husband and I have partnered together to work with students to raise up young women and men of faith. But as of August 31st, my youth leading days will come to an end.

Now, don't get me wrong...We're planting a church from scratch. It's not like I won't ever be working with teens again. (I have one of my own!) But after this week, the "full-time youth pastoring chapter" of my life will be over...

I can't begin to tell you how each student has blessed my life. Even looking back, to see how teens that are now adults still serve the Lord, makes me smile! :)

Last night, for our last official youth service, we held a "foot washing service". Laugh if you want...I wasn't sure of this crazy idea that my husband had come with either! But what a powerful time it was. We were able to serve and pray for each individual student, for their individual needs. And let me just tell you when we got to our son, the flood gates of tears broke!

I wanted to serve those students. I wanted to pray with them. I wanted them to know that they had blessed me beyond measure. It's been a complete privilege to have been able to be a part of their lives. I love each one of them and I'm proud to hand them over to the next couple. I know these students will continue to bless their new leaders and continue to serve others.

Besides, it's what Jesus did. And I want to be like Jesus. :)
