I'm sitting here at the table with the boys. Caleb is writing his short story (which is due today) and Cameron is working on his Reading/Vocabulary. At one point they were each tapping something against the table... Cameron tapping his pencil and Caleb tapping his toothbrush...don't ask.
I love mornings like these... I've already been to gym, the boys are hard at work and I just set up a spontaneous lunch date with my love.
Sometimes when I know that the upcoming weekend will be crazy busy, I try to carve out a few minutes to let Matt or the boys know that they're important. I have a long "to-do list" for the next few days, but on that list must include my family.
Our family life is a bit different than most... Most families look toward the weekend. That means a break, family time, ballgames, whatever takes their mind off the troubles of the week... Which is good. Breaks are good.
But the weekend for us means work. But in a good way!! We love getting ready for our weekend services. We love the passion that God has put into our hearts to keep doing what we do. We love that our boys help and
As you go about your weekend, whether it's busy or boring... Remember, there's always opportunities to show love, mercy, grace, and even a little encouragement. That's the lesson we're going to learn today.
"If I speak with human eloquence and angelic ecstasy but don’t love, I’m nothing but the creaking of a rusty gate. If I speak God’s Word with power, revealing all his mysteries and making everything plain as day, and if I have faith that says to a mountain, “Jump,” and it jumps, but I don’t love, I’m nothing. If I give everything I own to the poor and even go to the stake to be burned as a martyr, but I don’t love, I’ve gotten nowhere.
So...no matter what I say, what I believe, and what I do,
I’m bankrupt without love."
1 Corinthians 13:1-3 (The Message)
